Washington Bogart (WB) Cooper

Washington Bogart (W.B.) Cooper (1802 - 1889) was active/lived in Tennessee, Louisiana.  Washington Cooper is known for Itinerant portrait painting.

Washington Bogart Cooper made at least one painting trip along the Mississippi River to Natchez, Mississippi, and New Orleans in 1838-39. Known as an itinerant portrait painter, Cooper worked in Memphis, Chattanooga, and Knoxville, Tennessee, 1858.

He also visited Cincinnati, Philadelphia, and New York City, in 1841-42. His home with his wife and three children was Nashville, Tennessee.

His younger brother, William Brown Cooper was also a portrait painter, they are often confused as they both were listed in directories and signed their work as "W.B. Cooper".

They even collaborated on a project for the Tennessee Historical Society, completing portraits for every Tennessee governor in the 1850s.
